Myrick Hatch Trio is coming to perform at THE STUDIO once again! We invite you to join this grand event, enjoy the jazz music, savor the specially crafted delicacies by THE STUDIO's chef team, and mingle with fellow art enthusiasts.
A jazz piano trio (piano, bass, drums) can embody the essence of jazz in the most condensed yet effective way possible. A jazz piano trio blends the three basic elements of music: melody, harmony, and rhythm.
In the first half of the 20th century, the piano assumed the dominant role in jazz trios, with the bass and drums providing rhythmic and harmonic accompaniment. From the 1960s on, the Bill Evans trio, the Ahmad Jamal trio, and similar groups developed a much more democratic style, with greater and greater in-the-moment interaction, with responsibility for melody, harmony and rhythm shared more equally across three musicians.
A piano trio can achieve a kind of magic: communicating the emotion and spirit of improvised music, created by six hands – three brains – one heart.
THE STUDIO welcomes you to join this event, where you can enjoy the enchanting jazz music by 631 Trio, indulge in the specially crafted delicacies by THE STUDIO culinary team, and engage in conversations with friends who share a passion for the arts.

|Myrick Hatch – Bass Performed widely in US Northeast in the 1970s, then set music aside for a 40 year career in finance, now returned to his first love – jazz music. Recently served as music director and bassist for the Bobby West Trio in Taipei
|Tim Yeh – Piano Pianist Tim Yeh. Starting in his middle school years, Tim Yeh dedicated himself to self-study, learning jazz piano entirely by ear for over ten years. With incredible patience he learned to imitate and understand every note and phrase on his favorite jazz albums. Then later learned to re-interpreting the music through his own inspirations. Starting with an infatuation with swing, his playing and improvisations are strongly based in traditional jazz idioms. His early influences were Saxophonist Charlie Parker, trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, and pianists Bud Powell and Oscar Peterson. As a much admired musician in Taiwan’s jazz scene now for many years, and having played widely with many great musicians in both Taiwan and abroad, Yeh impresses audiences with his playing in many diverse jazz-related styles and settings.
|Doris Lin – Drums Started learning jazz drums from her father at the age of ten. After graduating from university in classical music, she began a professional jazz performance career with diverse and flexible styles. She has performed in Taiwan, China, Italy, France, Mexico, and Canada, is currently drummer with many famous jazz bands in Taiwan and has released award-winning albums.
